The Modern Language Association (MLA) is hosting its first conference to be held outside the United States and Canada. Entitled Other Europes: Migrations, Translations, Transformations, the conference will be held in Düsseldorf from 23 to 25 June 2016 and is the first in a series of MLA-hosted international symposia. Organized in collaboration with the Heinrich Heine University, the symposium will bring together a diverse and distinguished group of scholars to consider Europe’s role in a world of ever-shifting migrations, translations, and transformations. The conference will feature roughly sixty panels, keynotes, and roundtables, including discussions with Kwame Anthony Appiah, Aminatta Forna, Eva Hoffmann, and Yoko Tawada. Registration is now open.
