French to English PhD Thesis Translation
MAR 25, 2015
A French student who had just been awarded her PhD in philosophy recently contacted us. The client was happy about how her thesis was received by the academic community and she wished to have it translated into English so more people could read it.
To this end, she sent an enquiry to us detailing her wishes, and soon received a friendly reply from Jim, one of our account managers at Tomedes. Jim explained that we were quite experienced in this sort of translation, and had a number of translators on hand to help produce an outstanding English translation of her thesis.
The client was happy to hear this, and was impressed by Jim’s friendliness and professional manner. However, she was concerned that the translator might not be able to understand some of the concepts in her thesis, and thus the translation might not make sense.
Jim understood the client’s concerns, and assured her that only translators with knowledge of her field would be selected to work on her thesis. We have a number of graduates who are registered translators with us, and it wasn’t long before a philosophy graduate was found who was willing to accept the job.
The client found the quoted price to be very reasonable, and was happy that a suitable translator was found. She was also reassured by our 1-year guarantee, meaning that she was entitled to a new translation or a refund if she discovered an error. Based on these factors, she commissioned the translation.
Due to the length and complexity of the document, this job wouldn’t be completed overnight. But the client was pleased that the suggested deadline was suitable for her.
When the thesis was returned to her, the client was delighted that it received her professor’s approval and thanked us for the care we put into the translation.
