What is LREC?

The Language Resources and Evaluation Conference (LREC) is organized by the European Language Resources Association (ELRA) along with other national and international language organizations. ELRA is a non-profit organization with the mission of disseminating language resources and technologies to the language industry community since 1995.

The upcoming LREC conference will be the 12th one since it first set off in 1998.  The LREC conferences are perfect opportunities for ELRA and its attendees to share the latest language resource products, methods, and innovative language technologies to discerning language industry professionals coming from all over the globe.

The event is highly suited for researchers to share their latest developments. They have the opportunity to chart possible avenues in future research to spur further innovation and promote further quality in language products and service delivery, along with the professional development of attending language professionals. 

What Can Attendees Expect?

The event will last for 5 days. The conference will take place on May 13,14, and 15. The event will also feature career-enhancing workshops and tutorials on the following dates; May 11, 12, 16.

The event will primarilty feature the following topics on language resources and language technologies;

- Issues in the design, construction and use of language resources: text, speech, sign, gesture, image, in single or multimodal/multimedia data
- Exploitation of language resources in systems and applications
- Issues in language technology evaluation
- General issues regarding language resources and evaluation

Venue Information & Complete Address

The 5-day conference will be held at the glorious Palais du Pharo, built by Napoleon III in 1858 for his wife Eugénie de Montijo. It still stands today but as a conference center and is now the property of the city of Marseille.
