Founded all the way back in 1955, The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL in Finnish) advocates for the professional interests of translators and interpreters and is committed to bolstering their professional development. Organized by the SKTL since 2003, the annual KäTu Symposia on Translation and Interpreting Studies is one of the organization’s many initiatives in reaching out to the international translator and interpreter community. Attendees will be inundated with the latest research and developments relevant to the translation and interpreting field. The theme for the 2020 conference is “Translation and Interpreting: Focusing on Quality”.
Attendees ranging from researchers, teachers, doctoral students, to of course language service professionals are all invited to come. There, they have the opportunity to be inundated with relevant best practices in quality service delivery, receive critical feedback on their research from international industry representatives, and learn new theories and technological developments affecting the translation and interpreting field.
The event will not only feature presentations and lectures, but also parallel sessions, workshops, and poster presentations. Interested attendees will need to know that the working languages to be utilized in the symposium are Finnish, Swedish, and English. Attendees are welcome to contact the symposium organizers for interpreting services.
For the 4th year in a row, the event will be held once again at the University of Helsinki, the oldest university in Finland and one of the top ranked universities worldwide.
