NZSTI Conference 2017 - Spreading the Word: Transcending Boundaries & Enriching Lives

Translation and interpreting have long featured as instruments of cross-cultural communication, knowledge exchange and information transmission in a diverse range of fields and scenarios. These include literary translation, technical translation, community translation and interpreting, legal translation and interpreting, computer-aided translation, localization, user-generated translation, and so on. In recent times, due to the opportunities presented by the ever-changing globalized and technological world we live in, translation and interpreting are evolving from being merely the means of spreading the word. Increasingly, translation and interpreting may be regarded as a cross-boundary medium for extending the horizon of knowledge, enhancing intercultural dialogue and understanding, and enriching human lives.
