English to Japanese smartphone game translation
AUG 27, 2015
With the global reach of the iOS and Android platforms, developers are able to bring their games to a wider audience than before. Naturally, with a global audience come the requirement to translate games into the native languages of the countries that the game will be made available in. At Tomedes, we have a host of professional translators from around the globe, available to perform game translation at short notice.
A new client contacted us the other day. The client is based in Colorado, U.S., and works as an independent game developer, with a focus on the mobile game market. The developer had just put the finishing touches to his latest game, and he intended to launch it in Japan in the next few weeks. To this end, the developer contacted Tomedes to request a quotation for the Japanese translation.
Our client received a quick reply, confirming that a professional Japanese translator was available to work on his smartphone game, and that it could be completed by the requested deadline. The client was pleased by this, and also the affordability of the translation’s price, and thus went on to commission the translation.
The game required all in-game text, achievements and the store page description fully translating into Japanese. As the game was primarily action-based, there wasn’t a huge amount of text. This entailed that our Japanese translator was able to complete the entire project within 24 hours, and well before the client’s requested deadline!
The client was impressed to receive the completed translation so soon, and thanked us for facilitating a quick translation. The client went on to launch his game in the Japanese market, and we hope to work with him again on his next smartphone game translation!
