• Kinshasa Lingala and Brazzaville Lingala come from the capitals of the two Congo countries. Both variations have been significantly influenced by other Bantu languages along with French in terms of vocabulary and grammar. In fact, French is used as an official language in both Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Republic of the Congo. 
  

• The Lingala vocabulary in general has regularly borrowed words from French. Other languages which have contributed to the Lingala vocabulary include Portuguese, English and Dutch.
