We have translated between numerous language pairs including Hawaiian to English, and English to Hawaiian translation in a variety of fields like corporate translation, certificate translation, medical translation, personal translation and others.
- Hawaiian language has been through significant ups and downs through its existence. It used to be spoken by a significant population of people in the 19th century, when Hawaii was independent. Dozens of newspapers were published in the Hawaiian language, so were novels, traditional Hawaiian tales and translation of religious books. However, after USA attached Hawaii in 1899, it banned the language from schools contributing to its rapid decline. As a result of which the number of Hawaiian speakers was reduced to around 2,000, most of whom were the elderly.
- In the last century, there have been favorable developments connected to Hawaiian language. It was declared as the official language of Hawaii along with English in 1978, and a general revival of interest in the language ensued. Now the language is taught in Hawaiian schools, in fact there are several schools where the Hawaiian language serves as the medium for teaching most of the subjects.
- Hawaiian bears close relation to Polynesian languages like Tahitian, Marquesan, Rapa Nui, Maori, Samoan. It is distantly related to several other languages including Fijian, Malay, Malagasy, Indonesian, and native languages of the Philippines like Pangasinan, Visayan, Ilokano, Tagalog and Taiwan including Paiwan, Babuza, Rukai, Saaroa, Yami and Thao.
- Hawaiians existed only as a spoken language before coming in contact with the western contact. A standard writing system was developed for Hawaiian by western missionaries who based the Hawaiian alphabet on a derived Latin alphabet.
- In the Hawaiian alphabetical order, vowels precede consonants. The words themselves end only in vowels.
- After coming in to western contact in 1778, the Hawaiian language developed through increasing cross cultural interaction through explorers and traders who visited the island; it was influenced by Spanish, French, Russian, and German.
