Burmese serves as the official language in Burma. Formally, the Burmese government refers to the language as Myanmar but it is largely referred to as Burmese all over the country. Burmese is the native language of the Bamar people who are the ethnic majority in Burma. Itis also the native language of sub-ethnic groups related to the Bamar. The language is spoken as a first language by about 32 million people in Burma. It is also used as a second language by the ethnic minorities in the country.

Tomedes provides Burmese translation services for numerous language pairs including Burmese to English and English to Burmese. We work with professional Burmese translation providers a large number of whom work in their native languages. Thus we can assure the most authentic Burmese translation services.

  • Loan words in Burmese come from a number of languages like Pali, Mon and English, and less frequently from Sanskrit, Hindi and Chinese. For example Pali loanwords are used in matters related to government, religion, science and arts.
